제목: Computational Study on the Structures and Functions of the Brain
초록:
Understanding the working mechanism of nervous system is a difficult task because of the
large number of constituent neurons and extremely complicated interactions in nterneuron connectivity. However, most features of neural system can only be studied in a large-scale neural population. Experimentally, exploring this neural activity in detail is very hard because of the difficulty controlling and measuring many relevant variables imultaneously. In this case, theoretical modeling and computational simulation can provide insights into the task.
Currently our research interest is in the various functional structures of sensory
cortices in the brain. Here I will introduce a theoretical model on the development of functional structures in visual pathway and a computational method to study neural network behaviors in the structure. This helps us better understand how we take theoretical and computational approaches to study the dynamics of system activities in brain circuits and understand various features of brain functions.
